Leilany Casillas is joining us at Makerlog as researcher + storyteller for our blog! ✅
Leilany Casillas is joining us at Makerlog as a blog storyteller and research intern! This is her formal welcome to the maker community. 💚
Hello there! My name is Leilany V. Casillas. I am majoring in industrial microbiology at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and hope to one day become a surgeon.
You may be wondering, what is an aspiring doctor doing at Makerlog? Honestly, I don't know anything about coding. I once tried a Moana game at Hour of Code (https://hourofcode.com/us) and failed to get Moana’s ship to its destination. I also do not consider myself an entrepreneur; I am more of a researcher. One thing that entrepreneurs and researchers have in common is the fact that we seek to find creative ways to improve the world.
A random fact about myself is that I love buying unnecessary items on Amazon. The other day I saw a glass nail file. Is it unnecessary? Yes. Did that stop me from buying it? Well, it was supposed to arrive on August 7...
Another fact about myself is that I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, diagnosed when I was 17 years old. If asked, I will lecture you on what it is and why it is wrong to romanticize it. I also love musicals and theater in general; I am a big fan of books and a firm believer in getting out of your comfort zone to explore and learn about other fields.
But that is enough about me; now I want to hear from you. I want to listen to your stories and make sure that your voice is heard.
And that's what I'm doing at Makerlog.
